It’s many things, depends who’s asking.
It’s the online software you use by logging into this Web site.
And it’s a subsidiary of Distance Learning, Inc., a New York City software firm that's created enterprise solutions for the Berlitz’s, Educational Testing Service’s, Sylvan Learning’s, Merck’s and Genentech’s of the world.
ScribeStudio began as a thought in 2003. Our internal discussions ran something like this:
Customized software solutions we create for our enterprise clients run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Individuals and small and medium sized businesses have very similar needs as these large organizations, but don't have the budgets necessary to acquire solutions that meet these needs.
This is bad for them.
Having developed all this customized software, we have a lot of applications, features and functionalities that can be re-engineered and packaged into a solution that works for small to medium sized organizations.
This is good for us. And it will be good for them.
So we started to develop, and we mixed and matched a variety of applications that DLI had created. Others we built from scratch.
What we came up with is a turnkey solution for small to mid-size organizations. By summer 2004, we started beta-testing, and by January 2005, we launched ScribeStudio as the first 100%, Web-based application that enables subject matter experts and leaders to create and organize content, publish that content to password-protected Web sites, invite members to access those sites, and manage and communicate with them through applications like Web conferencing.
We’re 20 people working out of an office on 15 Maiden Lane in downtown Manhattan.
Our goal is to continue creating the best Web-based e-Learning, collaboration, streaming media, content creation and information sharing applications for you.
